54 Captain's View

Luxury Living Savannah's Captain's View vacation rental has views of a large pond & protected wetland known for bird watching and turtle sightings. Many rare species are often sited on the property. In addition to the enjoyment of the wetlands, you have beach views over the tops of the DNR protected dunes. Daily you have scenes of the massive cargo ships as they enter the Savannah River heading to our port. There is never a good description for the image of these massive ships that look as if they are on the beach! Captain's View is a tranquil setting that is most appreciated in the early morning and at sunset in a quiet residential neighborhood on Tybee Island's North Beach. You will be far from the touristy crowds and noise of South End and Pier. Don't be surprised if you run into a few Hollywood notables who call Tybee Island home.

54 Captain's View is a comfortable 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom duplex decorated in tropical décor. A local Tybee artist was commissioned to create the paintings of the resident egrets. The master bedroom offers a private balcony with captivating ocean views. The spacious patio off the living room and kitchen offers a gorgeous view of our coastal environment.

A short 200-yard stroll via private access takes you to a wide, uncrowded beach with the best fishing on Tybee. There is nothing between you and the beach but sand, dunes, and turtles!

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY is 4 people including infants & children, at all times.
Minimum age to reserve is 25 years old.
No pets. No smoking.

We have all NEW TVs that can stream all the new apps. We do NOT have cable, so please bring your login info for your favorite apps!

NOISE:
This property is NOT PARTY friendly. We do not allow loud noise, music, public drunkenness, or parties of any sort, including NO BACHELORETTE/BACHELOR GROUPS!
This is a family oriented neighborhood. Violators may be evicted and/or fined.
The City of Tybee Noise Ordinance requires strict observance of QUIET TIME between 10 pm and 7 am. Tybee Island Police and the neighborhood strictly enforces this. The individual violators (not the property owner) can be fined by the City.

PARKING:
MAXIMUM OF 2 vehicles allowed: 1 garage space & 1 driveway space.
No street parking allowed in this neighborhood. NO RVs or trailers allowed.

  I recommend this vacation rental. It was in a great location with a shared private beach a short walk away from the house. Everything on the island is within a couple miles, so it is a short drive to the other beaches. We rented a golf cart for a couple days to get around the island and had a great time. The house was spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable. The view was beautiful and the beaches were amazing. The host was very friendly and available for questions about the area. We had four adult stay (two couples) and we were very comfortable with plenty of private space. We would definitely stay here again.

  We had a wonderful stay! The location is located in a very clean neighborhood with a beautiful view from the balcony. It is not from the main road going to Savannah. The house is in great condition. Everything was clean and tidy. Our only concern was being able to hear the neighbors through the adjoining door but it was never a problem. Would love to stay again in the future.

  Very nice accommodations. The condo was clean and very nicely decorated. the only complaints are that the walk to the beach is very long and may not be good for people who are aged or have a walking disability. The unit is divided in two and it appears that the door at the landing is the only separation as you can hear the neighbors clearly causing some disturbance as the noise woke us.

  This lovely condo was really sparkling clean! The kitchen is great - roomy with lots of counter space. Having a garage was definitely an added plus in bringing in luggage, groceries, etc. The neighborhood is extremely quiet. The wetlands pond is lovely, with lots of turtles and birds. There was even an alligator in the pond that was relocated off the property during our stay. That was interesting to watch.
  
  A few things we didn't really care for: you can't see the actual beach from the upstairs balcony, but we had a great view of the passing ships. We like to see the people and waves coming onshore, so we would prefer a place actually on the beach. The beds CREAK like crazy when someone sits on them or turns over. I saw this in other reviews, and it's true. This was really our biggest dislike which affected our 4-star rating. However, the condo is now for sale, so it's likely that won't be rectified right away. For a condo that is marketed to the "discerning vacationer," the beds definitely need attention. If you are a late sleeper, you might bring a sleep mask, as the master bedroom is extremely bright.
  
  If you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay, I would recommend this. If you are a beach person, you might consider whether the longer walk on the boardwalk is what you are looking for.

  When I found the home online, it looked very small, but actually it is very spacious, with high ceilings.
  And great views, the only issues were the ceiling fan in the bedroom made a continuous loud clicking sound, and the master bed was extremely squeaky if you made the slightest movement.
  The other issue was the wifi wasn't connected and the password I was given did not access it.
  Just a heads up, don't go on the Dolphin tour, because they bring you right in front of this home on the beach, there are alot of dolphins you can watch from the beach in front of the house, without paying.
  The house was extremely clean, and a very nice roses to look at in the front. The garage fits a small car very easy, I don't believe it would hold a suv.
  This is a great place to stay, and we'll worth the price. And Adam Sandler has a house just up the beach, and Sandra Bullocks home is a couple of streets over.
  I'll definitely be staying again.

  The home we rented on Captains View exceeded our expectations. Absolutely beautiful inside and sparkling clean. It was just a short walk to a beautiful beach that was not crowded at all. The turtles were so fun to watch. It would be a wonderful place to bring kids. Bigger bed in the master bedroom and new mattress in the second bedroom would be the only recommended improvements.

  I have a family of 4 and we recently stayed in the 54 Captains View property. It was very clean and easy to access. There were really no negatives just a few observations. The beds seemed to have plastic or something under the mattresses and were loud to sleep on, meaning if you turned over or got off the bed you would wake the person in the same bed. There really is not view of the ocean or beach from this home unless you are standing in the upstairs bedroom balcony. This room had the queen bed, not the king. Again not a negative but would have liked to be able to see the beach from the den or kitchen area downstairs. Beach access is a 500 yard walk which isn't bad. Only other thing to think about is that this unit only has 1 shower so you will have to be creative when everyone comes back from the beach and is ready to get clean. Bikes or a golf cart is a must. I recommend bikes if possible. The island was very crowded with people walking, biking, or riding golf carts. Great island, great vacation!

  We enjoyed the vacation rental very much. Our weather not so much. We had rain almost every day, fogged in for two days straight. But the pond and the wildlife kept us entertained very well. Everything from an eagle bathing to storks visiting. The variety of ducks were great and the turtle didn’t disappoint (all one hundred plus). All in all we had a great time, wonderful food in Savannah and not to be forgotten —- our 5 dinners at SUNDAE CAFE were outstanding — don’t miss this tiny, wonderful restaurant “fabulous “ and great service as well.

  This was our second time staying here and we really like the location/area compared to the "tourist" end of Tybee. House is very clean and well furnished. It would have been nice if the King bed was in the bedroom with the ocean view instead of the street side. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, but could use a few more items (baking dish, pitcher etc) that we ended up having to buy for ourselves. Also the plant growth prevents you from seeing the ocean from the 1st floor, though we could see it a couple of years ago.

  just a couple recommendations - there needs to be some blankets for downstairs..the thermostat was upstairs and we were quite chilly the whole time that we were downstairs, it never got warm enough to be comfortable. 2nd, maybe some new pillows for the beds - the king pillows were quite flat. Overall it was a great place to stay, beautiful home and would definitely stay there again.
