The Washington Square Carriage House is a free standing cottage with a private entrance on the lane/alley. It is located behind The Washington Square Main House and guests share the center/private courtyard & garage below.
During the horse-and-buggy days, Savannah’s carriage houses were the sleeping quarters of the family's carriage drivers. The drivers were responsible for the care of the horses & the carriages housed in what we now use as auto-garages.

This painstakingly restored & converted carriage house offers one highly coveted garage parking space and is located in Savannah’s Landmark Historic District on picturesque Washington Square. This home is only 2 blocks from Historic River Street & the Savannah River.

The apartment is located on the 2nd floor over the garage so there is a flight of stairs leading up to the home. The carriage house has an open living room and kitchen with island seating for 4.
The fully outfitted kitchen is equipped with all the essentials to whip up a meal.

Each of the 2 bedrooms have en suite bathrooms & queen size beds. The walled courtyard offers a quite oasis to sip a cocktail and chat with guests from the main house.

TVs:
We provide free WIFI but NO cable, so please bring your login info for your favorite apps! All TVs are new and updated with current apps.

PARKING:
This reservation includes ONE private, garage parking space under the apartment.
Parking for additional vehicles: This area has metered, on-street parking. The City of Savannah uses Meter Pay Stations on each block. You can download the APP "ParkSavannah" to pay meters from your phone
OR
Visitor Parking Passes are available for 24hours/$15.00 and 48hours/$24.00. Passes can be purchased at the City of Savannah Parking Services Office at 100 East Bryan Street.

NOISE:
This property is NOT PARTY friendly. We do not allow loud noise, music or parties of any sort. Violators may be evicted and/or fined.
NO BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE GROUPS!!

MAXIMUM OCCUPANY is 4 people at any/all times, including children/infants.

Guest must be 25 years old to reserve. No exceptions.

No smoking or pets.

Cancellations:
If you reserve & cancel AFTER we have processed the reservation, we will NOT refund the credit card processing fee. We use a 3rd party credit card processing company & they do NOT refund these fees to us if a guest cancels.
You will also be charged a $50 cancellation fee PLUS the credit card processing fee.
This is regardless of VRBO’s policy.

  This carriage house in the historic district was ideal for two travelers. It is located a short walk from restaurants, shops, and other attractions, and is in the center of a beautiful neighborhood.
  
  The carriage house is exactly as shown in the listing. It is comfortable and spotless. The garage is a definite plus. The neighborhood is very quiet.
  
  We needed to contact the property manager regarding use of door keys and garage opener; she responded quickly, and the helpful handyman came over to resolve the situation.
  
  Since it was my first time visiting, we did a river cruise and also took a Savannah Cruisers ride through the historic district.
  
  It was very cold while we were there, and we are already planning a return.

  Wonderful location!! Within walking distance to just about everything. Forsyth Park was about 15-20 mins, but everything else was much closer!
  
  The house was very clean and accommodating. We had no issues with noise or lack of sleep. The only recommendations our group has is to have two towels per guest, add a full-length mirror, and change the shower curtain holder in the white, tiled bathroom to be more mobile. The hooks kept getting caught making fully closing the curtain challenging. None of these are reasons we wouldn’t stay again as we would definitely book for future travel to Savannah.

  The Washington Carriage House was in a great location, quiet part of town and a few blocks away from the river. The house was big enough for two couples with individual bathrooms. The only two concerns were the curtains in both bedrooms did not cover the windows completely and when the sun came up very early in the morning there was no way you could sleep in due to the light. The other concern was the microwave; after removing food and shutting the door, it would continue to run even though clearing the button didn't help. For safety concerns, we would unplug it after each use, and plug it back in when needed. I left a note concerning this with the key and garage door opener as instructed. Other than that, it was a great.

  We had not been to Savannah in 25 years and our friends had never been there. Use the hop on hop off trolley. Great way to get around. Ate at the Pirate House just a block away from rental. Good fried chicken. Ate at Pucci also just 2 blocks away. Excellent food! Chicken Marsala was fantastic. City Market great as well as river walk. Great location to walk to everything and having garage space is a big plus. Cozy in the carriage house, clean, compact. Wish had more comfortable seating in living area as at night when want to unwind was not enough comfortable seating for 4 adults. Having the two master suites is good. Just a little tight as they have used the space available to best advantage. Very clean! No issues with check in or check out. Adding a Keurig to kitchen would be great.

  First, good directions to teach the carriage house. I thought we would have access from the unit to the outdoor terrace but I did not realize we were o dr the garage- my mistake. The garage was a super added plus and even that floor was very clean. Directions to enter where clear and all worked well. The bed was comfy and the room was very quiet.   The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Its location within the historic district is perfect, as most things of interest are within walking distance. Also, having a garage on the premises is definitely a plus, since parking in that part of town can be problematic. We would definitely stay there again.

  We had a wonderful stay. The carriage house pictures and description were accurate. The location and private parking were ideal; the apartment was beautifully decorated and very clean; the internet connection/WiFi worked great our entire visit; the kitchen was well-appointed and we appreciated having access to the laundry; and the bed and bath linens were new yet comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

  Everything from the directions and instructions on leaving was perfect. Cottage was very clean. Having garage parking was convenient and the courtyard was so peaceful. Cottage is perfect for up to 2 couples. I would highly recommend this cottage for maximum of 2 couples.
