The Johnson Square Carriage House is a free standing cottage with its own private entrance on 2nd floor over the garage.. It is located behind The Jones Street Suites Main building. Like all original carriage houses in Savannah, the carriage house is the apartment where the family's carriage driver lived above the housing for the horses and carriages he cared for. The carriage house is a bright and cheery cottage retreat. Your private oasis has a large great room with vaulted ceilings and many windows that flood the house with light. Enjoy your morning coffee from your balcony overlooking the tranquil courtyard. The Carriage House comes with a highly coveted off street parking.

  The place was very clean, really in one of the best spots I saw while I was in Savannah. Central to everything. One side of Savannah to the other walking is only like a mile, so you really don't need a car, but there is a nice garage under the place too. Everything was so good, I really didn't even think about it. I had nothing to say, and that is a really good thing. They even accommodated a date change when my flight changed last minute! Simply the best.

  We were recently in Savannah for a 3 night getaway and had a fabulous stay at the Johnson Carriage house. As we learned on a tour of the city, Jones St. has been named the most beautiful street in the South. The homes on the street were indeed beautiful and the neighborhood felt very safe. We walked everywhere and the rental was very conveniently located. The place was very clean and the accommodations were very comfortable. We would highly recommend the carriage house and would stay here again without reservation if we visit Savannah again in the future.

  The pictures do not do this place justice. It's just the right size for 2 people. It was close to almost everything but the garage spot saved us money for parking when we did need a car to go anywhere. Being right next door to Mrs. Wilkes was rough...smelling that amazing food. I highly recommend grabbing food from there at least once but plan accordingly... only open 11-2 Mon through Friday. Get your order in by 1pm or you might just miss out. Would stay here again for sure!!!

  The property was great but the parking should come with a warning. We scratched our vehicle because it’s bigger. Only a smaller car could fit in there safely. Other than that the house was safe, but of course a damaged vehicle can somewhat ruin a good time.

  Very clean cute place. We booked a Tour with Kelly’s tour group! You definitely want to do this! You take a 2 hour tour and for the rest of that day and the next you call for a shuttle and they shuttle you around to all the stops! This rental is only a block and a half away from their 3rd stop. Only negative is the bed is SUPER firm! But we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again!

  We really enjoyed our stay at the Johnson Carriage House. It is in a great location on Jones Street. The House was clean and pleasantly decorated. It was great to enjoy my coffee on the porch each morning. Since it is located on the back lane
  and right next to the famous Mrs. Wilkes' restaurant, it is a bit noisy with garbage and delivery trucks. Be aware that if you are using GPS for directions, use the 109 Jones St. address and NOT the 1 Wild Rice Lane or you will end up out in Skidaway! Also note that if your vehicle is large (We have a RAM pick-up) it will not fit all the way into the garage. Lastly be careful.. the rug by the door slides easily and the bathroom floor is VERY slippery when wet. Still, these are all minor concerns, and should not keep you from booking this adorable little gem in the heart of beautiful, historic Savannah.

  The location is perfect, the carriage house is immaculate and equipped with everything you could want. The off-street parking is ideal. All the logistics/details were right on. Loved the porch overlooking the courtyard and fountain. The only thing lacking for us was a firm mattress. The bed is extremely soft, like a feather bed, and that was hard on our backs. But it was great to be so close to everything downtown and walk to restaurants, museums, and the Riverfront. Savannah's downtown parks are exquisite.

  This Carriage House was just perfect for our 3 night stay. It is well maintained, nicely decorated and well stocked. It is right next door to Mrs. Wilkes family dining experience. We like to walk, and it is in walking distance from all everything in the Historical District. It was nice to have off street parking, especially since we only used our car once during our stay to go to Tybee Island. The only downfall was trying to figure out which light switch worked what.   My daughter and I spent two wonderful days in Savannah at the Johnson Carriage House. The location is on a picturesque street and centrally located so we where able to walk just about every where. The carriage house is located above the garage where we parked our car without worry of street parking.
  The decor and court yard are just as picture. The only thing we would add would be sheets and blanket for the pullout sofa.

  We enjoyed the house once we figured out how to get into it. The directions said we'd go through a gate to right of main house. Never having been to Savannah, we assumed we'd drive thru gate to courtyard with garage. You had to park somewhere, walk to the gate, get key and open to walk through narrow passageway, up stairs to the house. Then get a key, walk down stairs to courtyard, open door to garage...which is covered parking--not a closed garage. Alley is very tight and difficult to angle into space. Restaurant next door is noisy in mornings. Home is comfortable, well organized. Location is great - walked everywhere. Probably wouldn't rent this one again, but it served our purpose. Rented 3 nights; stayed for two.

  We absolutely loved the property! It was very clean and very bright. Plenty of room for us. The location was perfect. The only issue we had was the TV in the evening. The Dish Network seemed to not work on the main TV in the evening. It said we had to turn off one of the other receivers, but we did not have the ones that were listed. That was the only hiccup during the trip. We will definitely stay here again!

  We rented this lovely carriage house and were delighted at its proximity to everything in historic Savannah. We could walk just about everywhere from it. It was absolutely sparkling clean, comfy, and stylish. Comfortable bed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars for location is because we weren't able to sit on the porch-neighbors with noisy fan and bright lights at night.
